A random surrvey conducted by then  Network of Social Education and General Services (NESEGESE) at Ilala, Temeke and Kinondoni Districts in  Dar es Salaam reg revealed that  there were many people including young  boys and girls sitting idle on the streets.

NESEGESE took initiative to approach and interview some of them to establish why were they staying joblessly while they were needed  by the society and nation in general?

The young boys and girls had different stories. Others said  they did not do what to do and where to go since they had no any skills to perform any economic activity for income generation.

Others said they had skills already but they do not know where to start as they had no equiptment  to start a venturel, others said they had working tools but they  could not hire a place as they had no rent. some youths told  NESEGESE that they had a frame and tools to run a business but they wondered how they could  get customers as well as  markerts for their goods.

Having heard these reasons NESEGESE thought there were a need to collect these people and talk to them. It convened a meeting at a place popularly known as Container where the owner provided them with plastic chairs and one table to be used as high table for NESEGESE officials.

The agenda was to encourage  the participants that everyone has to recognize and  value herself/himself .value his business and the customers.

For unskilled ones  and  could not buy the skills from the vocational training colleges, NESEGESE  connected them with skilled ones including masons, carpenters, tailors etc who voluntered to teach them free of charge.
