Lessons Learned

Explanation
Most of community leaders are not aware of; and have not seen the National Environmental Policy of 1992. The policy has not been disseminated.
There is intefearance in the enforcement of laws and regualation by higher authority.
It is important to involve beneficiaries and stakeholders from outside the organisation in the evaluation of the project in order to get wider views and critical analysis of the report.

Challenges

ChallengeHow it was overcome
1. None of the 135 community leaders had seen National Environmental Policy or Environment for sustainable Management Act of Zanzibar. The above have never been disseminated. It is a draw back that needs to be addressed in future interventions.

• This was discussed and agreed to be disseminated in the future.
2. Some very important items needed for the exercise such as allowance for Supporting Staff and transport for chief guest were not budgeted for; This was overlook during budget preparation.

CODECOZ spent its own money to pay for the items.
