BIZARRE: 14 year old MARRIED forcefully as seventh wife in Trans Nzoia

The class seven pupil was forced to be a seventh wife to a 65-year-old-man. Her mother forcefully married her off after the man gave her Sh 1,000 as dowry and promised to build her a semi-permanent house.
According to neighbours, the mother of five had problems taking care of her children and when opportunity arose she did not hesitate. She married off the girl being her first born daughter so as to get money to take care of her siblings.
However, the girl wanted to continue with her studies and after a night at the man’s house, she ran away. She sought refuge at a nearby police station.
The OCS said that the mother is being hunted after she escaped arrest. The girl has been taken to a children’s home where she will be able to continue with her studies.
